COSMOS inv. is a “for profit with a purpose”, research, engineering & real estate venture.
Our vision is to seek through research, engineering & ultimately real estate development & enhancement, the regeneration of the cultural and environmental heritage of local communities.
We accomplish our vision through respect for the urban, natural and cultural history of each place we work in, with responsibility for its environment & biodiversity, and special consideration to the details.
We believe that when spaces recover their spirit, they thrive and positively affect people's lives. From a single flat to a productive estate, the regeneration of spaces has the potential to create places and communities, generate local pride and altruism. This, in turn, has the potential to recover the culture and biodiversity of a whole region.
Our purpose then is to make spaces flourish and positively affect people who permanently or temporarily interact with them. Our spaces energise those who experience them, touching and making them prosper through the engagement generated with the surrounding architecture and design of excellence in a reciprocal virtuous circle. Our spaces do not impose a change of lifestyle: they respect and in effect deepen personal styles inducing the well-being.
We advise, design, develop or revamp, manage & operate across the UK & Argentinean real estate markets. We bridge between knowledge – science, engineering, and research – and culture, while both knowledge and culture are the essential feedback to our RE projects spinning a virtuous loop.
From a space curator viewpoint, we also create, re-create and re-conceptualize prosperous spaces to deliver inspiring experiences where both people and space thrive.
The regeneration concept in a disused or misused property begins by resuscitating the space or “restoring the soul” to the property with a cultural festival, event or activity (in decreasing order of complexity, time & space) in its actual state of abandonment or misuse, without transforming but minimally intervening it. The surroundings are used as inspiration, reclaiming spaces as platforms for art, debate, and knowledge exchange.
At a later stage, the property is converted into its final use by “restoring the body” to it. The conversion within this concept recovers the property respecting its architecture, its environment and its origins, telling its history closely linked to the neighbourhood. This adds value not only to the property itself, but also to the neighbourhood where it belongs to, by being its pride and the starting point for an improvement in the block, district, city, etc. as the scale enlarge
In short, the regeneration first returns the property’s soul through the cultural expression, exposing it by putting it in the spot-light. Only then the property’s body is recovered with the conversion and, finally, its character & identity are injected through the end use project. That is, the space is regenerated in its entirety: a high quality property telling its own story intimately linked to the surrounding neighbourhood, becomes the contagious starting point for an improvement in the block, neighbourhood, district, city, region… and so forth.
Agustin’s background in mechanical & fire engineering and passion for architecture, design and arts, all combined forged a fascination for creating new or regenerating destroyed, abandoned, or misused spaces, progressing into an urban regeneration devotee. He developed his own concept of regeneration for several years, inspiring from public and large-scale projects (e.g. BRE’s Future Cities Programme), and coining it through the private approach by refurbing and recovering small to medium-scale properties for the past 2 decades, both in Buenos Aires and Edinburgh.
We put together key people from different worlds and backgrounds:
• from the academic world
• from the engineering world
• from the architecture and design world
• from the cultural and artistic world
• from the public sector (government & urban planners)
• from the private sector (real estate developers, investors)
• from the third sector (NGOs)
